Step 1) Determine what size you need.

Use this guide as a general rule of thumb (per room):

• 3/4 Ton 9,000  BTU Up to 250sqft

• 1 Ton 12,000 BTU up to 500sqft

• 1.5 Ton 18,000 BTU up to 750sqft

• 2 Ton 24,000 BTU up to 1000sqft

• 3 Ton 36,000 BTU more than 1000sqft

For multizone applications, the outdoor unit size is the total of all the indoor unit sizes. Use the MrCool Combo List in the Files section to aide your choice.

Step 2) Have all the right tools and accessories.

Tools:

• Drill

• Hole saw or drywall knife

• Two adjustable wrenches

• Anchor kit/screws for indoor mounting with compatible bit

• Anchor kit/screws for outdoor lineset cover

• Screwdriver

• Wire strippers

Accessories:

• Lineset cover kit

• Electrical fusible disconnect with wiring

• Either a mounting bracket or pad (or other foundation) for outdoor unit

• Communication wire

Step 3) Plan the job.

• Determine the location of the indoor unit. Note where the 3" hole will be made. Determine how you are going to run the drain.

• Determine the location of the outdoor unit.

• Have the correct voltage and wire size ready at the outdoor unit.
